
Roger Banks, 91, of Perrysville died late Thursday evening, March 28, 2002, at Samaritan Regional Hospital in Ashland after an extended illness. Mr. Banks was born August 10, 1910 in Mansfield to the late Ben and Daisy Stevick Banks. He was employed as a shipping clerk with Mansfield Tire and retired after 44 years of service. Roger was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lucas, where he served on the church council for 4 years. In his earlier years, he derived pleasure from outdoor activities and in his later years, his enjoyment came from caring for his family and children. He was a 50+ year member of Venus Lodge #152 F. & A.M. He and his beloved wife of 69 years, Marie Shenberger Banks have lived in the family farmhouse for their entire married life.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Wanda & Hager Arnett of Lucas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jack & Sharon Banks, Jerry & Carol Banks and David & Nancy Banks all of Lucas; five grandchildren, Bryon Banks of Chardon, Ohio, Mark Banks of Lucas, Mike Banks of Lucas, Bobby Banks of Lucas and Jacquelyn Tilton of Lucas; seven great-grandchildren, Daniel and Christina Tilton of Lucas, Jonathan, Haley and Samuel Banks, all of Lucas, and Elizabeth and Rachel Banks of Chardon, Ohio; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Thelma & Charles Geary of Perrysville and Darlene Mowers of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Harry, Ken and Raymond Banks.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Sunday, March 31 from 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral services. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lucas, Monday at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Dr. Walter Schuman. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Ronald McDonald House.
