
Ruth Cox Porter, 81, of Shiloh, Ohio died at home Friday, January 31, 2003 after an extended illness. Mrs. Porter was born August 15, 1921 in Gimlet, Kentucky living in the Mansfield area since 1946. She married her husband of 38 years, Clell David Porter, March 31, 1942. She retired from Foodtown T & A Saveway after 28 years. She attended Hannah Road Church of God. She won several awards for her quilting talents and enjoyed quilting as a member of Piece Makers Quilt Club in Shelby. She will be missed and always remembered by her family and friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Bev Porter; a granddaughter and her spouse, Kelly Jo Porter & Ken Anderson; brothers and sisters-in-law, John & Ethel Cox of New Boston, Michigan, Paul Cox of Stark, Kentucky, Raymond & Stella Cox of Wyandotte, Michigan, Glennis & Arlene Porter and Dale & Judy Porter, all of Mansfield, Vaughn Porter of Lexington, Ohio and Jewel & Garnet Porter of Olive Hill, Kentucky; a sister, Faye Mobley of Ecorse, Michigan; sisters-in-law, Alfreda Cox and Ruby Cox, both of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Gladys Porter of Mansfield, Dixie Manning of Muldraugh, Kentucky, Fay Blizzard and her husband, George, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Joyce Perry of Marion, Indiana, Eleanor Wilcox and her husband, Dave, of Warrenton, Virginia and Virginia Waddell of Olive Hill, Kentucky; two brothers-in-law, Elvis Kidd of New Carlisle, Ohio and Maxy Beair of Olive Hill, Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen & Georgie Cox; her husband, Clell David Porter; an infant daughter, Lidice; four brothers, Eldon, Charlie, Wayne and Ralph Cox; and two sisters, Lizzie Kidd and Lois Jane Beair; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Laura & Jack Mabry, Bess & Kit Rose, Fred Manning, Libb & John Bowling, Maxine Rose, Budd Perry, Bert Porter, and John & Geraldine Simmons.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Sunday from 2-6 p.m. and Tuesday beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Globe Funeral Chapel where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12:00 noon conducted by Pastor Gayle Price. Burial will follow in Carter County Memory Gardens, Grayson, Kentucky.
