Ruth Wilcox

Ruth E. Wilcox, 91, of Mansfield, died Saturday, May 12, 2007, at Oak Grove Manor. Born December 12, 1915, in Lucas, she was the daughter of the late James Madison Neel and Rachel Elanora Spore Neel. An area homemaker most of her life, she was a lifetime member of First Christian Church where she was active in the Children's Department and member of the Homemakers class.

She is survived by a daughter, Betty Phelps of Mansfield; son, Robert Esther Wilcox of Mansfield; grandson, Timothy Scott Wilcox; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Brittany and Cody Wilcox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. Wilcox, whom she married in July 1940 and whom died in January 1990, a grandson, Michael Wilcox, three brothers, Virgil, Edgar and Earl Neel, two sisters, Flo Guthrie and Lou Connelly, and a son-in-law, David Phelps.

Memorial services will be Thursday, May 17 at 1:00 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, conducted by Rev. Faith Proietti. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12-1 p.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 200 W. Third St., Mansfield, Ohio 44902.
