
Samuel A. Miles, III, 62, of Mansfield, died Friday, October 06, 2006 at his home after an extended illness. He was born January 19, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of Samuel A. Miles, Jr. and Teresa Stimmler Miles. Later in 1944, the family moved back to Mansfield, and Mr. Miles continued to live in the area until his death. He attended Lexington, St. Peters, and Shelby schools, and The Ohio State University. Mr. Miles worked for several years as a stock house foreman at Empire Steel before joining his father in Miles Baking Co. In 1980 he took a position at Mid-Ohio Gravely in sales, then as co-owner with his wife, Joyce. His hobbies included photography, travel, reading about history and current events, and riding his motor scooter.
He is survived by his wife of more than 41 years, Joyce Bright Miles; their son, Sam and daughter Dana of Mansfield; his sister and brother-in-law, Terril and Dr. Charles Weber of Worthington; nieces and nephews, Shana and Jason Baker, Kylene and David Ferbrache, Lauren Weber, and Annalisa Weber; mother-in-law, Virginia Bright; aunts, Virginia Miles, and Lena Stimmler of Mansfield; uncle and aunt, Robert and Esther Wolf of Mansfield; life long friends, Bill Doehla and Bob Swank; many cousins; and two grand nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law; and several aunts and uncles.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors where a memorial service will take place at 7 p.m. conducted by Rev. Faith Proietti. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice and Home Health Care, whose efforts provided invaluable guidance and comfort to Sam and his family.
