

Scott Jack Messer, 46, of Mansfield, passed away late Monday evening, October 19, 2015, at James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He is now renewed in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born September 5, 1969, in Mansfield, Ohio, and was an area resident most of his life. Scott graduated from Crestview High School in 1988 and North Central Technical College in 1991.
Scott had previously worked as a welder and in the construction business. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping with friends and family. His nieces and nephew were his favorite companions and watching NASCAR races was a favorite pastime. Scott loved the Lord and was a wonderful witness of the Gospel to others. He attended Cornerstone Freewill Baptist and Shelby First Freewill Baptist churches..
He is survived by his parents, Jack and Lora (Sigmon) Messer of Mansfield; son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Chongson Messer of Springfield, VA; sister, Kimberly Wade of Mansfield; four nieces and nephews, Lauren Creamer, Yeseul Messer, Autumn Creamer and Joseph Wade; and many cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Malana Messer and Carey and Margaret Sigmon.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015, in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Herman Copley and Pastor Matthew Pond officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Contributions in memory of Scott may be made to the American Cancer Society.
