

Born December 26, 1918 he was the son of Robert and Elnora (Herring) Wade. A veteran of the United States Army, he served during World War II as a gunner in the Pacific. He retired from Luntz where he worked as a crane operator. Sherman was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed attending the Cleveland Indians games, animals, and gardening.
He is survived by a son, Mike (Donna) Wade of Mansfield; a granddaughter, Tattiana Wade of Mansfield; three nephews, John Brooks of Denver, CO, Willie Brooks of Memphis, TN and William Brooks of Mansfield; three nieces, Marjorie Fields of Chicago, IL, Nola Mae Hunter of Chicago, IL and Ruther Mae Hunter of Nashville, TN; and a host of great nieces and nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Wade; a brother, Robert Wade, II; two sisters, Virginia Brooks Dotson and Ruby Hicks; and two nephews, Robert Wade, III and Edward Brooks.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2011 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield where the Richland County Veterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors following the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
