Shirley was born April 12, 1936, in Somerset, Ohio, to the late John Howard and Marjorie Yvette (Swick) Patterson. She retired from United Telephone and later from the Lazarus Cafe`. Shirley had eight children, which included 2 sets of twins, whom she loved very much and eleven grandchildren who adored her. Most recently, she took an extended train trip to the Pacific coast and up to Alaska to board a boat to whale watch with her special friend and companion, Jim Lowe of Loudonville. She was an avid bowler in her younger years, and always spent a lot of time in the kitchen cooking fabulous meals large enough to feed a small army.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Eugene Studer; daughter, Mendy Richards; son, Patrick Myers; sister, Norma Molnar; and brothers, Don, John, Joe, Bill and Tom Patterson.
