
Steven M. Burns, 61, of Ashland, died Friday, August 8, 2008 at Wooster Community Hospital. Born June 17, 1947 in Ashland, he was the son of the late William S. and Betty J. Kimball Burns. He retired from Cinergy of Cincinnati as a Senior Customer Service Representative. Steve was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War serving in Germany as a M.P. He was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Ashland, was an avid car enthusiast, with vast knowledge of classic cars. Steve also loved traveling, Civil War history and especially, antebellum homes.
He is survived by his wife, Kristi McFadden Burns; two stepdaughters, Katie Jeremy Burkepile and Amanda Richert, all of Ashland; five grandchildren, Hannah, Megan, Koby, Hunter and Hayley; two brothers, John Sheila Pifer of Mansfield and James Sandy Pifer of Ashland; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family, DeeAnn and Martin Lemon of Holmesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Burns and nephew, Scott Burns.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, August 12 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors with Pastor Rob Barlow officiating. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. in the Grace Brethren Church Chapel in Ashland. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery with military rites by the Ashland Veteran's Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Steve Burns to Wooster Community Hospital, c/o Stroke Survivors Support Group.
