
Susan Jane Mihalick, 89, of Mansfield, died Friday, June 10, 2005, at Parkside Villa, Middleburg Heights, after a brief illness. Born April 9, 1916, in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Michael Jurco and Anna Krizan Mihalick. A 1934 graduate of Mansfield Senior High, she attended her 70th class reunion last year. After graduating, she worked until she was 70 years old. During WWII, she worked at Westinghouse Corp. and after the war, she became an assistant to Drs. Engweiler and Fernyak. She finished her career as a clerk at the Mansfield Municipal Court. After her retirement, she participated in activities at the Conard House. Throughout the years, she enjoyed traveling with her friends. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ where she taught children's Sunday school classes for many years. She was noted among her family and friends for creating heirloom quality quilts and crocheted items. She loved to collect and dress dolls, enjoyed line dancing and going on bus trips with other seniors.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Eileen Mihalick of Mansfield; two nieces, Patricia Yoder and Deanna Charles Bontempo; two nephews, Michael Zona Mihalick and Ronald Carolyn Mihalick; ten grandnieces and nephews; and ten great-grandnieces and nephews; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mary Mihalick, and brother, Michael Andrew Mihalick, Sr.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Thursday, June 16, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Dr. George Spink. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ or MedCentral Hospice.
