Susie was strong, independent, and caring. In November 1955, she immigrated to the United States in pursuit of a better life. Opened in 1974 alongside her husband, Tong Chin, she owned and operated Chinatown Restaurant. For decades, they worked tirelessly to build not just a business but a community. Though they eventually retired due to age and health, the restaurant remains family-owned and operated—celebrating over 50 years of serving the community and fostering lifelong friendships with loyal customers and employees.
Susie was known for her hard work, resilience, and generosity. She was dedicated to serving her customers and took pride in creating a welcoming space where everyone felt at home.
She is survived by her children: Hong (Mei Ling) Chin, Mae Nar (Roy) Leedy, Mae Lae (Tim) Barney, and King; grandchildren: Jeen Chin, Been (Cesar) Chin, Kristina (Brian) Lalley, Caleb (Allison) Barney, Josh (Kim) Leedy, Dennette (Erik) Santamaria, Alex (Rudy) Leedy; and great-grandchildren: Reese, Miles, Andrew, Avery, Graham, Brooks, Aria, Francesca, and Angelina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tong Chin and son, Saint Chin.
Family and friends will be received from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Wappner Funeral Directors – Mansfield, 98 S. Diamond Street. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 PM at Mansfield Cemetery, where Susie will be laid to rest.
