
Thomas E. Mills, 94, of Mansfield, went home to be with his Lord Jesus Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. Born May 15, 1921 in Davisport, Kentucky, he was the son of Joseph and Virgie (Scaff) Mills.
A veteran of the United States Army, he served during World War II. He was a member of Faith Chapel on Hanna Road and retired from AK Steel. He enjoyed gardening, webbing chairs and going to garage sales and auctions. He loved to sing with his wife Dot at church and sitting on the front porch watching the cars go by.
He is survived by his nine children, Faye (John) Moore-Rush of Mansfield, Jearldean "Dottie" (Tom) Hunter of Mansfield, Anna L. Cottrill of Mansfield, Sylvia "Jeannie" (Don) Littleton of Mansfield, Glenda S. (Jack) Davis of Lenore, North Carolina, Bobby J. Mills of Mansfield, Diane (Myron) Thacker of Mansfield, Charlie R. (Sharon) Mills of Aiken, South Carolina and Ernest L. Mills of Mansfield; 25 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Frank (Peggy) Mills of Dayton, Ohio and Robert (Lou) Mills of Akron, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy "Dot" Mills; an infant son, Richard E. Mills; two sisters, Goldie Goble and Sylvia Hiner; two brothers, Arvil and Bill Mills; and two sons-in-law, Jim Cottrill and John Moore.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Faith Chapel, 674 Hanna Road, Mansfield conducted by Rev. Bruce Copley and Rev. Paul Crisp. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park where full military services will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Chapel.
