

Thomas "Tom" R. Patton Sr., 68, of Ashland, Ohio, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 1, 2015, at the Cleveland Clinic surrounded by his family. He was born May 28, 1947, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Vinton Patton and Helen Smith Patton.
Tom owned and operated Patton's Expressway Auto Parts for many years and retired as a millwright. A workaholic, he was always busy fixing something. He enjoyed late model stock car racing and was an avid collector of everything and anything. He could often be found touring around on his treasured Harley Davidson motorcycle. Tom was a former Madison Township Trustee and loved animals of all kinds.
He is survived by his wife, Mary "Kathy" Windsor Patton; three children, Doug (Amie) Patton, Treasa (Paul) Wilson and Carrie Patton (Gordon Baker), all of Mansfield, OH; mother, Helen Patton of Mansfield; fifteen grandchildren, Sadie, Kohl (Chelsea), Klay, Klint, Chesnie, Kayn and Charleigh Patton, Jon Ruckman, Amanda (Joe) Lawhorn, Haley Sanders, Chanelle (Matt) Howell, Codie (Hazel) Hinton, Corie Hinton, DJ Williams and Kristyn Baker; eleven great-grandchildren, Kreed Patton, Cameron, Preston and Addyson Ruckman, Codie, Corie Jr. and Carmen Hinton, Alyvia Sanders, Ariaha Lawhorn, Avah Howell and Bailey Caudill and two great-grandchildren, soon to be arriving. He is also survived by three sisters, Pauline (Sam) Napier of Mansfield, Sue Kleinsmidt of Boynton Beach, FL, and Virginia (Bill) Emswiler of Galion, OH; four brothers, John (Emily) Patton of Mansfield, Harold (Phyllis) Patton of Shelby, OH, Bill (Brigette) Patton of TX and Ed (Michelle) Hoskinson of PA; a sister-in-law, Louise Patton of Montgomery, AL; and many nieces and nephews.
Tom is preceded in death by his father, Vinton Patton; son, Thomas R. Patton Jr.; grandson, Seth Thomas Patton; three sisters, Carolyn Rachel, Eydith Lykins, and Lucille Arnold; five brothers, Paul L., Samuel V. Sr., Chuck "Butch" and Paul "Pete" Edward Patton and Frank Hoskinson.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015, in the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service which begins at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 6 in the funeral home. Dr. John D. Freeman will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Shenandoah Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Open Bible.
