
Vernon Cameron, Jr., 77, of Ashland, died July 3, 2004 at his home. He passed away quietly Saturday evening from cancer. Vernon was born June 25, 1927 in Ashland to Vernon Cameron and Agness P. Gregg. He served 1-½ years in the U.S. Army and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and American Legion in Mansfield and Amvets of Hayesville. He worked at the Tappan Company for 40 years, retiring to his farm, fishing and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Alene McKown Cameron; son, Michael W. Cameron of Ashland; daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen David Gaefke of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Jean Lloyd Koppes of Cincinnati; ten grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Betty King of Michigan and Laura Ackerman of Mansfield; one brother, Roy Dean Cameron of Mansfield; many nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Don Snider and John Wolf, both of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Blanche Howard, Dorothy Smith, Pauline Cameron and Diane Hedrick; and four brothers, Paul E. Cameron, Glenn Leroy Cameron, Gary Lee Cameron and Carl Eugene Cameron.
The Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is in charge of the cremation arrangements. As per Vernon's request, there will be no services. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1605 County Rd. 1095, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
