
Vernon C. Lange, 80, of Mansfield, died Monday, September 1, 2008, at MedCentral Mansfield. He went home to be with Jesus. Born May 3, 1928, in Hudson, Iowa, he was the son of Axel and Julia Simonsen Lange. A veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War, Mr. Lange was the co-owner of Quality Skills, Inc. and loved helping people with their employment needs. In 1997, he co-authored the book "Thanks! I Needed That", a guide book on resume writing and interview skills. Through his personal faith, he always remained positive in all his adventures in life. A graduate of George Williams College in Chicago, Mr. Lange did his graduate work at the University of Iowa in Labor and Industrial Relations. Mr. Lange began his career at the Mead Corporation in Dayton, OH in 1956. Following his years at Mead, he became Training Associate and U.S. Manager of Client Services at Kepner-Tregoe, Inc. of Princeton, NJ. Mr. Lange was a member of Southside Christian Church and the Christian Business Men's Committee of Ashland and Mansfield. He served as co-facilitator of the Richland County MS Society and also was a member of the Rotary Club of Mansfield. Vern loved and cherished his wife, Ardis, whom he married August 14, 1955. He loved his family and life "with a great deal of exuberance".
Surviving in addition to his wife, Ardis, are his three children, Tom Lange of Columbus, OH, Betsy Lange of Albuquerque, NM and Nancy Patrick Collins of Avon, OH; grandchildren, Timothy, Eric and Michael Collins; a brother, Paul Lois Lange of Devils Lake, ND; a brother-in-law, Willard Evans of LaGrange, IL; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend and business partner, Bob Finley. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Agnes Evans.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2008, at the Southside Christian Church, 2055 Middle Bellville Road, Mansfield, conducted by Rev. Paul L. Lintern. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
