

Virginia M. Thompson, 92, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, June 5, 2018, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. She was born April 2, 1926, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Albert K. and Scree (Carter) Stanish.
She retired from Taylor Metal Products after 35 years of service. Virginia was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church for many years where she taught Sunday school and assisted in the clothing room. Her family was most important to her and she loved spending as much time as possible with them. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, cooking, baking and fishing.
Virginia is survived by a daughter, Janet Cary of Mansfield; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Thompson of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Trev (Karen) Cary of Loudonville, Kimberly (George) Thompson-Barley of Mansfield, Heather (Doug) Kelly of Mansfield and Kelly (Jim) Nightingale of Waterville; nine great-grandchildren, Zackary (Riley) Kelly, Mitchell Kelly, Austin Cary (fiancée, Kailey), Blake Cary, Hannah Barley, Olivia Barley, Alyson Nightingale, Cameron Nightingale, and Caitlin Nightingale; a brother, Albert (Phyllis) Stanish of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thompson; son, Ronald Thompson; parents; sister, Bernice Bishop; and sister-in-law, Dorothy (John) Rachel.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2018, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Pastor Dennis Nezrick will conduct the service which follows at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Mansfield Memorial Park.
