
Wilbur Blaine Forbes, 88, of Mansfield, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at his home. He went home to be with his Lord. Born April 18, 1919 in Adario, he was the son of John Blaine and Yana Smith Forbes. He served in the U.S. Army for four years as a Sergeant during WWII. Mr. Forbes farmed for over 35 years while he worked at Philway in Ashland for 19 years and retired from Liqui Box. He graduated from Ruggles School and attended Westwood Alliance Church in Ontario. Mr. Forbes will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time in his gardens and his lawn.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lola Mae Patton Forbes; daughter, Rebecca Plank of Ontario; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Pam Forbes of Lexington; grandchildren, Jennifer Forbes of Cincinnati, Mandy Forbes of Columbus, Bradley Plank of Mansfield, and Kristin Forbes Galownia and her husband, Todd, of Mansfield; great-granddaughter, Kylie Galownia; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Conley Tirey of Lancaster, Kentucky, Mickie and Duff Markel, Bonnie Markel, and Pat and Dave Watson, all of Ashland; brothers and sisters-in-law, Russ and Jan Forbes, and Smith and Glenna Forbes, all of Ashland; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alva Hinckley, Rhea Miller, and Betty Block; and brother, John Forbes.
Friends may call from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2007 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Doyle Peyton and Pastor Durward Hays. Military graveside services conducted by the Ashland Veteran's Honor Guard will follow in Ashland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westwood Alliance Church.
