William Berger

William Dean Berger, 88, of Ashland, formerly of Wooster, died Thursday, July 06, 2006, at Belmont Tower, Brethren Care Village in Ashland. Born April 10, 1918, in St. Louisville, Ohio, he was the son of William F. and Blanche Hutchison Berger. Mr. Berger received his Bachelor of Science and Masters degree in Education from the Ohio State University and taught Vocational Agriculture for three years before entering the Baby Chick Hatchery business, serving as sales and service agent for 25 years. He then returned to teaching Vocational Agriculture at Wayne County Career Center retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Wooster United Methodist Church, Ohio Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association, Gamma Sigma Delta, Agricultural Honor Society, and was involved with the Wayne County Junior Fair Board where he was a 4-H Poultry Advisor. Mr. Berger was also involved with Wooster Youth Baseball in the 1950's and 1960's and enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and gardening.Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Dean and Carol M. Berger of Thousand Oaks, CA; a daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline M. and Eli A. Yoder of Ashland; two grandchildren, Michael Dean Missy Berger, Jr. of Houston, TX and William Ryan fiancée Rebecca Berger of Austin, TX; two great grandchildren, Athena and Tristan Berger; numerous nieces and nephews; and a sister, Esther Coss of Homer, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 67 years, Emma Repasky Berger; three brothers, Leslie, Charles and Max Berger; three sisters, Ruth McCullough, Bessie Marston and Mildred Petty; and two nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2006, at Wooster United Methodist Church with Chaplain Jerry Gess and Rev. David Wilcox officiating. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2006, at Belmont Tower in Ashland and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
