

William W. Dignin, Sr., 91, of Ashland, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at The Good Shepherd Home. Born June 6, 1920 in Humbird, Wisconsin, he was the son of Jerome and Laura (Tubbs) Dignin. William was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired as the chief timekeeper at F.E. Myers. He also attended Bethel Baptist Church. He loved to read Westerns and enjoyed the outdoors especially gardening, fishing, and cutting wood with his chainsaw.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Sagaskey) Dignin; children, William W. (Alicia) Dignin, Jr., Karen A. (Jeff) Bowersock, Pamela S. (Nicholas) Petroff, Thomas L. (Mary) Dignin, Charleen Johnson; ten grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Dale (Donna) Dignin; sister, Betty Austin; numerous nieces and nephews; and step children, Carol Sen, Catherine Peters, Susan Wieder, and David Sagaskey. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Velma B. (Heath) Dignin; step child, Robert Sagaskey, Jr.; brothers, Lynn, Robert, and Darryl; and sister, Theo Blom.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Ave., Ashland, conducted by Rev. John Bouquet. Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Nova Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland.
