
William G. Hoffman, 74, of Mansfield died at home, Sunday, September 30, 2001. Mr. Hoffman fought a courageous six-month battle with cancer. He was born January 29, 1927, in Mansfield to Will C. and Ethel Dorman Hoffman. Mr. Hoffman retired from Anchor-Swan Rubber Company after having worked 31 years at the Mansfield Tire Company. He was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church; a member of Mansfield Lodge #35, F & AM; Elks Lodge #2554; and VFW Post #5101. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Air Force with the 70th Army Air Force Base Unit.
Bill recently celebrated 50 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Wilma G. Rowland Hoffman. He is the father of three beloved children, daughter, Debra G. Shakarian of Mansfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy A. and Lee Ann Hoffman of Bellville, Ohio and Marc C. and Kelly A. Hoffman of North Ridgeville. He is the cherished grandfather of Nick and Sable Shakarian of Mansfield, and Stone and Case Hoffman of Bellville. He is also survived by many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Bill was a kind and faithful friend to countless people. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Hoffman; and two brothers, Robert R. and Richard E. Hoffman.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Tuesday October 2, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Wednesday October 3, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Pastor Carl Cunfer and Pastor John Steingass. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church or MedCentral Hospice.
