

William R. Hubbard, 66, of Mansfield, died Monday, January 5, 2015, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born December 7, 1948, in Burnwell, West Virginia, the son of the late Lona (Legg) and Samuel Hubbard.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1967-1969 in the VietnamWar. He formerly was a volunteer fireman/EMT with Madison and Mifflin Townships for numerous years and retired from Jay Plastics after over 20 years of service. In his spare time, he found great pleasure in traveling and being with his grandchildren.
On December 31, 2014, Bill celebrated 45 wonderful years of marriage with Gloria Duncan Hubbard. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Shannon (Peter) Wright; son, Samuel (Dana) Hubbard; three grandchildren, Colin and Faith Hubbard and Ian Chambers; two sisters, Kay (Hartsel) Robinson and Lola Graham; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jack, Richard and Charles Hubbard; and three sisters, Mary Abbott, Naomi Burford and Nancy Tappe.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015, in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with his son, Rev. Samuel J. Hubbard II officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail immediately following the service. Burial will then follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
