William Martin

William R. Martin, 94, of Mansfield, died Thursday morning, August 11, 2001 at MedCentral Mansfield after a brief illness. Mr. Martin was born April 22, 1907 in Mansfield, Ohio living in the area all of his life. He retired in 1976 from the U. S. Post Office in Mansfield where he was chief accountant. Mr. Martin was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Retired Federal Employees, and Men's Garden Club. He was a 60 year member of Venus Lodge #152 F. & A.M. and a loyal alumni of The Ohio State University.

He was survived by his wife, Annabel Betts Martin of Mansfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Maureen & John Burkhart of Columbus; four grandchildren, Anna Jason Hull, Matthew Burkhart and his wife Karen, Timothy Burkhart, and Laura Burkhart, all of Columbus; two great-grandchildren, Elisabeth and Amy Hull, of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews including Richard Martin and Cheryl Cummins, both of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. & Laura Smith Martin; and two brothers, James and Robert Martin.

Memorial services will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Wednesday, August 15, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. conducted by Dr. George Lambert and Dr. Wray C. Smith. Private family burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.
