

William “Bill” Metcalf, 73, passed away Tuesday evening, August 30, 2011 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born March 24, 1938 in Uhrichsville, Ohio, he was the son of the late William S. and Marie (Decker) Metcalf. Bill retired from the Richland County Prosecutor’s Office where he was the Diversion Director. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Bill loved his family and enjoyed sitting on his porch telling many stories. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, mowing his yard and being outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy (Graham) Metcalf; two sons, Doug (Debbie) Metcalf and Chuck (Brenda) Metcalf; three grandchildren, Dustin, Matthew and Megan; one great-grandson, Carson; two sisters, Sandy Metcalf and Jennie (Dan) McCue; a sister-in-law, Barbara Ferguson; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends at their favorite restaurants, Chinatown, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and El Campestre. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Herb and sister, Martha.
Friends and family may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2011 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests only your thoughts and prayers. If so desired, contributions may be made to Franklin Township Fire Department.
