
William H. 'Pop' Mobley, 77, of Mansfield, died Sunday morning, May 14, 2006 at his home. Born December 19, 1928 in Carter County, Kentucky, he was the son of Thomas and Garnett Gilbert Mobley. He worked as a truck driver most of his life, retiring in 1986. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Mobley attended the Hanna Road Church of God. He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending church, and listening to gospel music.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda J. Fields Mobley; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Chuck Shoemaker, Sandy and Tim Toth, Elaine and Paul Brown; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Kathy Mobley, Bryan and Debbie Mobley, and Rodney and Lisa Mobley; grandchildren and their spouses, Chip Ethel, Marshall and Melanie Ethel, Stephanie and Sean Hunt, Sarah Richardson, Bradley, Rachel, and Allyssa Brown, Jamie Prosser, Amanda and Steve Thurber, Josh Mobley, Jennifer and Jeff Hedrick, Caleb Mobley, Makayla and Macy Mobley; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Ethel, Xavier Ethel, and Michelle Ethel, Cheyenne and Mariah Hunt, Greg Harris, Emma Barger, and Jaden Hedrick; step grandson, Danny and Samantha Shoemaker; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Lil Mobley; sister, Dovie Dailey; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and Augustine Carroll, Jessie Coleman, Don Coleman, Goldia Workman, and Estill Bud Fields; and beloved pet dog, Mario. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Dustin Ethel; and brothers Burl Pete Mobley, Willis Mobley, and Larry Holbrook.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday May 17, 2006 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Memorial services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Floyd Scaggs. Burial will be in Windsor Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice or Hanna Road Church of God.
