William "Bill" David Yarman, 74, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away late Wednesday evening, June 8, 2016, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born December 22, 1941, in Shelby, Ohio, to the late Rodney and Donna (Fair) Yarman.
Bill grew up in Shelby and attended Shelby City Schools. He worked at Miami Systems for 46 years, retiring as a shipping clerk. While he may have lived in the same area his entire life, he had an adventurous spirit and loved traveling. Bill was fascinated by all the treasures nature provided. Sitting quietly for hours to catch some fish wasn't boring to him, but was an opportunity to look around and see all the beauty before him. If he wasn't working or fishing, Bill enjoyed hunting and tending to his garden.
Blessed with a gift for storytelling, Bill would make any story exciting and fun. He enjoyed the time spent with friends and family, but especially enjoyed the company of his grandchildren. His legacy lives on in the many memories he made with everyone who loved him and he will never be forgotten.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of almost 51 years, Donna (Mowry) Yarman, whom he married on July 17, 1965; three children, Kathy (Stephen) Ventre of Cincinnati, OH, Laura (Curt) Roe of Bucyrus, OH and Greg (Michelle) Yarman of Upper Arlington, OH; three grandchildren, Corinne, Anna and Joseph Ventre; three step-grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Roe and their children, Ethan and Ella, Craig (Julie) Roe and their son, Chase, and Mitchell Roe; a sister, Sally (Dean) Howerton; a brother-in-law, Brad (Nancy) Mowry; two aunts, Mary Alice Shaffer and Evy (Ralph) Sabey; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Leo Mowry.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital and The James Cancer Hospital staffs for the wonderful care given to Bill. A special thank you goes to the many friends and family members who offered their support over the last year.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. 460 W. 10th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43210.
