
Willie Lee Carter, 60, of Mansfield died Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Carter was born March 20, 1942 in Rich, Mississippi and was a Mansfield area resident most his life. He retired as a steel worker and was a member of Local 169 U.S.W.A. Willie attended Greater St. John Church of God in Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Carter; three daughters and a son-in-law, Kandisse and Mike Holmes of Ft. Myers, Florida, Latonda Toni Carter and Wilonda Lonnie Carter, all of Dayton, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, Darius and Sherika Carter of Mansfield; mother and stepfather, Adell Carter-Moton and Willie Moton of Aurora, CO.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy Emma Carter, Kenny Danielle Carter, all of Mansfield and Jaun Joy Carter of Aurora, Colorado; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Lorraine and Kevin Taylor of Broomfield, Colorado, Bevylon Larry Shephard, Elsa Jean Carter, and Pamelia Curtis Hampton, all of Aurora, Colorado; fifteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and special friend, Eugene Owens, Jr. of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie D. Carter, brother, Kim Carter and a son, Tracy Lamont Carter.
Friends may call at the Greater St. John Church of God In Christ Saturday one hour prior to the funeral service, which will be at 11:00 a.m., conducted by Bishop Walter E. Jordan. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
