Yvonne Sprang

Yvonne J. "Bonnie" Sprang, 70, of Mansfield, peacefully went home with the Lord Friday, May 15, 2009 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital with family and her pastor at her side. Born May 28, 1938 in Mt. Vernon, she was the daughter of Leland John and Blanche Luker Shrimplin. Bonnie formerly worked as caregiver at McElvain Homes. She was a dedicated member of Diamond Hill Cathedral and loved all of the activities at the church. Bonnie enjoyed caring for her many plants and flowers and building her cook book collection. She cherished spending time with her family and many loved her for her sparkling personality and smile. Bonnie will be missed by her family and friends, but we look forward to seeing her again.

She is survived by her husband, George C. Sprang; two daughters, Michele A. Ray Yee of California, and Melinda A. Dennis Fox of Mansfield; two sons, Mark Rhonda Sprang of Mansfield, and Keith Diana Sprang of Rhode Island; grandchildren, Loren Baker, Alan Sprang, Jacob Yee, Brianna Fox, Claire Sprang, Nicklas Yee, and Allison Yee; brother, Duane Shrimplin of Mansfield; one niece; and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; aunt; uncle; and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Diamond Hill Cathedral. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Diamond Hill Cathedral. Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Bonnie Sprang.
