born November 25, 1943.
The world lost a real “Wild One” on Monday December 14, 2015.
Stime was an honest man with endearing quirks and a heart of gold. Hard working and very dependable, he was an asset to many. He worked for The Southern Pacific Railroad, RentCenter, Zuni Rental, Ashton Construction Company, Maya Construction, CL Ridgeway, Southern Arizona Paving, at his own independent business Old Pueblo Truck and Equipment, & Aker Kvaerner/Jacobs Engineering as a field recruiter.
His talents were put to good use, as he was an excellent organizer and problem solver. He loved working on construction projects around the house and for friends and family. He was an expert bricklayer, and deck builder. He was a very motivated person who was always there to help with mechanical problems. He has been described by neighbors as “The Go-To Guy”. We will miss him forever. With his woodstock smile and ridiculously large collection of hats, he created nick names for everyone, and even cultivated his own slang and jibber jabber language. He was a very confident man who never compromised himself. He lived his life honestly, and had some pretty strong opinions. The only republican in a family of democrats, he was never boring. He was a founding member of the Ashton Golf Group. Always donating his (type o negative) blood, Stime was a tough guy, with lots of friends. He was loved by so many people, and he will be survived by his wife, Emily Blanton, his children, Hugh “Schroder” Blanton, Bridgitte “Sigh Sigh” Thum, (Michael Sterner) and William “Billy” Blanton, his grandchildren, Arryck Blanton, Wrilan Thum, Marijayne Blanton, Elijah Thum and Rebecca Rae Valenti Blanton, his brother Bruce Blanton, (Rosemary Blanton) and sister Barbara Ann Wells. He was born in Tucson and attended Amphitheater High School. He will be welcomed in heaven by his parents, Herschel O. Blanton, Lucille V. Blanton, brother Carl Blanton, His father and mother in law William “Wild Bill” and Sylvia Bingham who loved him like a son.
There will be a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery 3015 N. Oracle Road on January 4th at 3pm.
