Joe was born on January 2, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, to Joseph and Agnes Uhlman. He proudly joined the United States Air Force in 1960, carrying that sense of service and discipline throughout his life. A mechanic by trade, Joe had a natural talent for understanding how things worked and took pride in fixing, building, and improving whatever was placed in front of him.
A true competition enthusiast, Joe lived life with curiosity and enthusiasm. His many hobbies included competitive silhouette shooting, flying planes, professional pyrotechnics, bowling, water skiing, and golfing. In recent years, one of his greatest joys came from fostering newborn kittens—an expression of his gentle heart and deep compassion.
Joe was devoted to his family above all else. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mickey, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and memories. He also leaves behind his sons, Christopher and Joseph (Jenifer), along with 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Joe will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, competitive nature, and unwavering love for his family and animals. His presence, stories, and steady hands will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 8, 2026, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at the Orange Grove Mobile Estates Clubhouse, located at 3635 W. Mango Dr., Tucson, AZ 85741.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to an animal rescue organization of your choosing, in honor of Joe’s lifelong love for animals.
Joe’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he loved, and the quiet kindness he showed every day.
