Robert Earl Smith, 63, passed away on February 6, 2026. He was born on August 26, 1962, and lived a life centered on family, loyalty, service, and love. Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a steady and dependable presence to those who knew him, valuing his family above all else. His greatest accomplishment and deepest pride were his sons and grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. The title he cherished most was “Grandpa,” and he found his greatest happiness in time spent with those he loved most. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, dedication, and quiet devotion.
Robert proudly served in the United States Air Force, including deployment during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. He carried his sense of duty, discipline, and integrity throughout his life. He worked hard for many years at Bombardier/MHIRJ Aviation Inc., always taking pride in providing for his family. Known for his strong work ethic and generous heart, Robert was always willing to help others and give without hesitation.
A loyal Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Oklahoma Sooners Fan, Robert, rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his teams. Remembered for his love of a good steak, good company, and simple moments, he found the greatest joy in being surrounded by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Justin “Big Justin” Smith; his father, James Ryburn; his mother, Sandra Smith; his stepfather, Henry “Hank” Smith, his stepmother, Jean Smith; and his brothers, James Jr. “Tug” Ryburn and David Ryburn.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Smith of Tucson, Arizona; his son, Joshua Smith, and daughter-in-law, Kristen Smith; his cherished grandchildren, Graham, Luka, and Koraline; his brother, Dewayne Ryburn, and his wife, Christa, and their children, Riley Ryburn, Rylie Schreck, Makayla Schreck, and Chase Ryburn; his brother, Richard Smith, and his wife, Laura, and their children, Victoria Smith and Alexander Smith; his sister, Julie Ryburn, and her husband Justin, and their son Tristian; his in-laws, Eddie and Rose Popovitch; and his sister-in-law, Julie Popovitch. He is also survived by extended family members and many dear friends who will deeply miss him.
While his family grieves his passing, there is comfort in imagining Robert reunited with his beloved son, Justin—a long-awaited embrace between father and son. His love for Justin never faded, and that bond remains unbroken. May their reunion bring peace to all who loved them both.
A celebration of Robert’s life, including military honors, will be scheduled for early spring 2026. Details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements are finalized. Robert’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His presence, strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family will never be forgotten.
