
Paul (he always used his middle name) was the third of five sons born to James and Leatha Fleming. Paul started elementary school in West Frankfort and graduated from Horace Mann High School in Gary, Indiana in 1934. He was married to Esther Bailey on June 4, 1939. The wedding was performed by his father, James Fleming, who was a minister. In 1943 he went to work for IBM as a Customer Engineer. In 1946 IBM moved Paul and his family to Arkansas and then in 1952 to San Antonio, Texas. He stayed with IBM until his retirement in 1976.
Paul loved to travel and camp. During the time when their children were growing up he and Esther frequently took them on tent camping trips on the weekends and during the summer, including trips to Yellowstone National Park, one of his favorite destinations. After retirement, Paul and Esther spent eight years living in their travel trailer and traveling all over the U. S. and Canada.
Following the death of his beloved wife of 49 years in 1988, Paul always lived close to one of his children.
He is survived by his son Paul and wife Sandra of Georgetown, TX; daughter Carol and husband Vince DeYoung of Lamont, MI; daughter Donna and husband Tim Lane of Era, TX; 11 grand children and 15 great grand children.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of First Baptist Church, Marble Falls at 2:00 p.m., Saturday October 8, 2011, Dr. E. M. Hay officiating. Burial will be at Richland Cemetery near Smithwick, TX immediately following the service.
