Dunning is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patti Bright, his daughters Leah Petri and husband Chris of Austin, Bonnie Frailicks and husband Bradley of Austin, Katie Bright of Houston, and his son Sam McCall and wife Rachel of Manor. He is also survived by his sister Rosemary “Dede” Bright of Hearne, grandsons Walker and Hughes Petri and Nathan McCall, along with numerous other family members and friends.
Dunning was born January 11th, 1947 in Fort Worth, the son of Albert Dunning and Mary Ellen Bright who preceded him in death. He grew up in the Austin area. Dunning was a 1965 graduate of the old Austin High School and attended Texas Tech University and Southwest Texas State University. He was a natural athlete who excelled in track, an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent much of his youth on Lake Travis water skiing and spending time with friends on his home-built houseboat. Dunning began a lifelong love affair with aviation when he acquired his private pilot’s license in 1968. He was captivated by all aspects of aviation and owned several single engine planes.
He and his wife Patti moved to Marble Falls in 1993 with their daughters Bonnie and Katie and he lived the remainder of his life in the Texas Hill Country.
Since 1968, Dunning was the owner and operator of Casis Cleaners in Austin and later Marble Falls. He wanted his dry cleaners to excel in quality work and obtained several industry certifications and credentials. He loved being a small business owner and found great joy in the friendships he had with his customers and employees over the years.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of Texas Home Health Home Care and Hospice. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over the last several weeks of his life were truly a blessing to the entire family.
A memorial service will be held honoring Dunning on Tuesday, June 18th at 10:00am at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 US Highway 281, Marble Falls.
