Elfrida Muston, a woman of warmth and love, passed away from this life on Monday, April 13th, 2020 in Schertz, Texas. At 95 years old, she lived a rich and long life. "Frida" was born in Winters, Texas on August 31, 1924 to Otto Frederick Turk, a farmer, born in Germany, and to Theresa Wild Turk. She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Russell Lamar Muston of Abilene, Texas, who after only a 3 month courtship, married the love of her life on November 29, 1947. Frida leaves behind her oldest, son Roger Muston of Corpus Christi, Texas, her daughter Patricia and her husband Jeff Coleman of Schertz, Texas, son-in-law Rudy Vasquez of Corpus Christi, Texas, brother-in-law Jerry Muston and wife Derlie of Sherman Texas, and brother-in-law Charles Horton of Lubbock Texas. Frida is preceded in death by her beautiful youngest daughter, Lisa Vasquez, 4 brothers and their spouses, 5 sisters and their spouses, and her parents.
Frida spent her entire childhood growing up in the small German community of Winters. She left home when she was 19 years old to attend Draughon's Business College in Abilene. She then worked for a grocery company as a bookkeeper, also in Abilene. Here she met and was courted by Lamar after he discharged from the Coast Guard. They soon married in his family home.
After Lamar and Frida moved to Lubbock, Frida borne their 3 children there and subsequently lived in Euless, then Corpus Christi. While in Corpus Christi, Frida worked as an office associate for J.C. Penney 19 of their 24 years there. Lamar and Frida then enjoyed their retirement years for another 24 years in Marble Falls. Cibolo and Schertz, closer to their children, then became their home.
Frida enjoyed gardening, visiting with neighbors, and quilting! She leaves a beautiful legacy of patchwork and hand stitching. What she loved most, however, was her family. She was a very loving mother and the epitome of consistency, patience and kindness. She demonstrated a strong work ethic, a quiet strength and an occasional quick witted response. Frida had a deep commitment to God, her marriage, family and friends. Holidays and any other occasion were always spent with her loved ones.
She is now honored by those surviving loved ones. Her eight grandchildren are Matthew Muston and Amy Muston, both of Corpus Christi, Susan Bilotto of Houston, Mary (Beth) Boulton of Buda, Melinda Christine and husband Walter Wellborn of Bryan, Andrew Vasquez and wife Jessica of Tampa, Florida, Anthony Vasquez and his wife Moriah of San Antonio, and Sarah and husband Scott Gross, currently in Germany. Frida also has eighteen precious great grand children with another one on his or her way, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Frida was a kind and loving woman, always putting family first, greatly loved and will be greatly missed!
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America are welcome.
