Our Mama, Ma, and Grandma will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Patricia (Guy), son Gary (Gloria); Grandchildren, Brandon (Stacy), Nicolas, Hunter (Stormy), Julissa (Gabriel), Gary Jr. (Tiffany), Hannah (Alan); Great Grandchildren, Hailey (Brianna), Kaleb, Kannon, Beckett, Krew, Lyric, Luna and Paxon; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. With her absolute selfless kindred spirit and sweet soul, everyone knew they were loved beyond measure. She was honestly the gentlest person in the world. She would do anything for anyone and give you whatever she had. She will always be so loved and painfully missed by everyone who was blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, Stanley; her parents, Make and Opal; brothers, Floyce and Royce, sister, Glenda; and grandson Nicolas.
Polly was born Eunice Pauline Crone on December 26, 1933, to Macon and Opal Hanna in Turkey, Texas. At that time her family lived and farmed in the community of Bridle Bit. When she wasn’t in school, she was working hard hoeing and picking cotton for her daddy in the fields. The family eventually moved to town where Polly was a Turkey Turk cheerleader and outstanding basketball player.
In 1951 after graduating from Turkey High School, she married the love of her life, Stanley. They made their family home together in Carlsbad, NM, where their children Trisha and Gary were born. She was a loving and devoted wife and mama, an excellent cook and outstanding homemaker.
Polly was very cheerful and good-natured and instantly became friends with the neighborhood ladies. They started a weekly Canasta card club that she loved and hosted often. She also took golf lessons at Carlsbad Municipal Golf course and quickly became an outstanding golfer, participating in tournaments and winning many medals and trophies.
The family moved to Port Lavaca, Texas, in 1967. Continuing with her outgoing personality, she sold Avon door to door, had Tupperware parties, bowled on a league, and played on a ladies’ softball team. By far though, Polly’s passion was decorating. Through her sales of Home Interiors, women hosted parties at their homes and she displayed her amazing talent of arranging pictures, shelves, mirrors, flowers and figurines to create a beautiful room or space. She was so successful, through her hard work and dedication, she earned the top prize.
After her children graduated from high school, Polly and Stanley’s travels took them to Washington State for his job. They returned to Texas after 18 months and resided in Victoria. There she bought a maid service cleaning business which she owned and operated until she and her husband retired and moved to Marble Falls to be close to their daughter and her family. Mama and daddy devoted many years to their family; cooking for everybody all the time, traveling everywhere to everyone’s activities, and being on call at a moment’s notice for wherever they were wanted and needed. Complete selflessness and pure love.
After Stan’s passing, Polly resided in Marble Falls Arbor House Assisted Living from March 7, 2017, until her sudden passing, June 14, 2024. She was very loved by all and she in return loved them. Comments and stories of her being so sweet and loving, her beautiful smile and quick laughter, and having such a gentle spirit about her will resonate with us forever. Thank you to the people of Arbor House for making this our mama’s home for the past seven years and a very special love note to the ones who truly loved mama and treated her like your family. She loved you back and we’ll never forget you.
A Celebration of both mama and daddy’s lives will be held at a private service per the family’s request. Thank you to all who loved them
