

died Monday, September 15, 2014, at his home after a ten month fight with colon cancer.
Gary was born October 20, 1948, in Big Spring, Texas to Clyde Dennis and Ruby Helen Lindley
Turner. In 1958 the family moved from Coahoma to Big Spring. Gary was a member of the 14th
and Main Church of Christ and attended school in Coahoma and later graduated from Big Spring
High School in 1967. Gary attended Howard College and Texas Tech, completing a degree in
Business and was active in the oil business of West Texas, forming the company Turner Properties.
After moving to the Hill Country, he became active in business interests around the
Horseshoe Bay area.
Gary married Ronda Hilliard on May 12, 1994, and recently celebrated 20 years of marriage.
Together they created a beautiful home place. Gary tamed the property and landscaped it into a
beautiful ranch for future generations. In every business decision he made, he made it for his family.
Gary loved his family deeply. His grandparents Charles and Zella Lindley were very dear to him.
He loved his community and appreciated the friendships established through the years.
Gary was the loving father of his children Matthew Garrett Turner and Mellissa of Austin,
Lindley Cole Packer and Cody of Lakeway, loving step-father of Casey Atkison of Burnet and
Carla Glass of Spicewood, loving grandfather of Braxton and Anthony and loving step-
grandfather of Chance, Kendahl, and Ava. Survivors also include his sister Cheryl Sparks and
John Richard of Big Spring and nephew J. Rich of Canyon and brother Jay Turner and Laura of
Big Spring as well as sisters-in-law Karen Perkins and Jerry of Arlington, Jan Hilliard of
Horseshoe Bay, Terri Schmidt of Arlington, and Linda Nelms and Toby of Weatherford and their
families. Also surviving are numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Gary also leaves
behind his long-time right-hand man Juan Ordaz, many lifetime friends and his pet, Hunter of
Buffalo Hollow Ranch. Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, mother of
children Ann, and Tony, the father of his grandson Anthony.
A memorial service for Gary will be held Sunday, September 21, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Clements
Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls. Memorial contributions in memory of Gary may be made
to the Gary and Ronda Turner Scholarship Endowment, c/o Jan Foresyth at Howard College,
