The first thing that comes to my mind about Holton was his sense of humor. Even as a kid, he made me laugh. He and Reta were part of a group of Christian friends that would come to our house to play dominoes with my dad and mother, John and Mary Acord. I didn't realize till years later that most of those people were related to Holton. We were so lucky to have been friends with Holton, Reta and all of those wonderful people. What a legacy.

What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
And what a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer
Oh, what peace we often forfeit
Oh, what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer

Brother George baptized me and raised me to entrust my life into the Lord's hands. I can hear his voice booming this message in the middle of a lesson. And it sustains me through my times of troubles. I remember laughing with him as we entered the cold water of the baptism. I remember his support as I spoke at my grandmother's funeral. He was always proud of me and happy to see me. May his family, friends, and flock find comfort from the lessons he has taught. He's in his mansion now, with Robbie.

So many memories, it is hard to pick one. Reta and he sister Chari were more like sisters than cousins. So many childhood memories, with family reunions. Many memories were from the time that Holton and Reta lived in Alvarado. There were many gatherings of extended family members at their home. Being younger, Chari and I usually caused some excitement. The last 30 years, I always stopped to visit when going to and from Austin. My love always to Reta and family.
