

Ivan J. Hinkle, or Ike to his family and friends, passed away September 6th, 2023, at Willow Park Rehabilitation Center in Clifton, Texas. Ike was born on March 27th, 1932 to Jonas and Fanny Hinkle in Liberal, Kansas. He was the youngest of 8 children, with five brothers and two sisters. The family later moved to Hutchinson, Kansas where he graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1949. A year later he married Marie Scott, also of Hutchinson, and they had four daughters: Belinda, Cynde, Sherry and Vicky.
Ike joined the Army and served most of his time at Fort Tilton, New York where he received the National Defense Service Medal.
After leaving the Army, he settled his family in Denver, Colorado where he followed in his father’s footsteps and became a carpenter. He would later form Hinkle Brothers Construction Company along with several of his brothers and they built some of the first houses in Aurora, Colorado.
He later married Lavone Ladd and they had a son, Jack. Lavone also had a daughter, so he was blessed with a stepdaughter, Diane. They moved to Austin, Texas and he worked for many years as a Top Superintendent for Nelson Construction. He passed along his carpentry skills to Jack, which Jack later put to good use and made it into his career. Ike loved to hunt and fish, and Jack has many fond memories of those times they spent together.
Ike would eventually marry Rhonda Dunklin and had three stepsons: Eddie, Christopher, and Daniel. After moving to Marble Falls, he raised miniature horses and had a pecan grove for several years. He was always passionate about animals and was devoted to his dogs and cats. He was happiest when he had a project or something to keep him busy. He was very proud of his yard and garden and spent many happy hours keeping it all in immaculate condition.
He leaves behind eight grandchildren; Josh, Jeremy, Julie, Alyssa, Kaden, Abby, Gavin, and Danny, seven great- grandchildren; Cahrin, Lily, Emmy, Caleb, Jordan, Bear and Luna and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Jonas and Fanny Hinkle, daughters: Belinda and Sherry Hinkle, brothers: Clyde, Ralph, Rex, Bill and Dick Hinkle and sisters, Helen Hinkle and Frieda Dockham.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30th, 2023 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet, Texas.
