Jim grew up in Marble Falls, where he graduated from Marble Falls High School. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Texas State University and proudly served the State of Texas as a Meat Inspector, a career from which he retired after 31 years of dedication. He met the love of his life, Deborah, in San Antonio, where they began a 49-year journey together and built a beautiful family with three children. After retiring, they moved to Marble Falls to be closer to his family and live in the town he loved.
Known for his love of the outdoors, Jim was happiest with a fishing pole in hand or roaming the brush in search of deer and turkey. He never missed a chance to share a story from his adventures. Each tale taller than the last, each animal bigger than the last time he told it. Through these outdoor pursuits, Jim forged countless friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime.
His greatest joys, however, were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim possessed a remarkable ability to connect with children; his genuine warmth, approachable demeanor, and kindness established him as a valued presence in their lives. He could light up a room with laughter and made everyone, big or small, feel at ease.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sister Beth Spratlen-Cornelius; brothers Henry Irvin Floyd and George Edward Floyd; and brother-in-law Gary Dale Fry.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Jean Floyd; his son Brad Floyd and his wife Kristina with daughters Olivia and Katie; daughter LeAnn Wolff and her husband Josh, and their son Devon White, his wife Shelby, and their son Everett; daughter Rebekah Levingston and her husband Rhett; daughter Deborah Childress and her husband Jordan with daughters LakeLynn and BayLynn (on the way); and daughter SkyLynn; his daughter Linda Hill and her son Eric Quintanilla, his wife Paloma, and their daughters Ellis and Isla; Jim is also survived by his sister Wanda Fry; sister-in-law Elaine Floyd; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families along with numerous friends as well.
Jim will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his warmth, his tales, his laughter, and his enduring love.
A Reception will immediately follow the service at First Assembly of Marble Falls, 96 Main Street, Marble Falls, TX 78654, and the family warmly invites all to join in honoring and celebrating the life of James Floyd. A meal will be provided.
