Janie Ribera, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, February 5, 2022. She was born April 1, 1939, in Burnet, TX to Rafael and Julia Cervantez and celebrated 67 years of marriage with her husband, Domingo Ribera. He was the love of her life.
Janie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, godmother, and friend. She had an entrepreneurial spirit and heart for hospitality that she shared with us for over 40 years; She was Janie’s Mexican Food.
She was generously kind, had an unwavering faith, and never lost focus on what mattered most, her family. Life to her was an adventure, a gift to be lived and shared with the ones she loved. She radiated joy, evidenced by her welcoming smile and larger-than-life personality. She loved music, dancing, playing cards and dominos, dessert, thrift shopping, swimming, and making memories together. Her greatest days were filled with celebrations, she loved sharing her home with family and friends. In her eyes, once you walked through their door, you were family.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Julia Cervantez; brothers, George Cervantez, Vicente Cervantez, and Joe Cervantez; sister, Frances Serna; and son, Patricio (Pat) Ribera.
She is survived by her husband, Domingo Ribera; brothers, Ralph Cervantez, Robert Cervantez, and David Cervantez; sisters, Mary Gonzales and Maxie Ribera; son, Michael Ribera; daughters, Julie Briceno and Rosie Ribera; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and numerous loving relatives and dear friends.
