She was born January 5, 1978 in Johnson City, Texas to Randy Lewis Mayville and Mary Ann (Steele) Mayville. Krystal is survived by her parents, Randy and Mary Mayville, sister Randa Chance and husband, Shane, sister Keli Schlueter and husband, Justin, her two nieces, Devon Chance Barnes (husband, Nathan) and Grace Schlueter, her three nephews, Gage Chance, Benjamin Chance and Alex Schlueter, and a vast host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who thought of her as family. She is also survived by her two devoted miniature pinschers, Tiny and Wags.
Krystal was a gifted therapist, singer and writer. She loved traveling the world and concocting new recipes. She was famous for her bold mismatched fashion ensembles, gigantic hair bows and astonishing shoes. Her signature style always included colorful, funky glasses without lenses. Her family was her world. She was especially adored by her nieces and nephews who affectionately called her “The Horrid Aunt”. She was a fierce protector and advocate of those she loved.
Krystal genuinely loved animals and people alike. She had a rare gift of drawing people out and making each person feel like they were her favorite. Her fearless authenticity, loud, audacious humor and refreshing lack of pretense will be deeply missed. Krystal was a straight shooter – no one had to guess what she thought. She lit up the world around her and quietly healed a multitude of broken hearts.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Krystal’s life at visitation and viewing on Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and at her homegoing service on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at HOME Church, 405 US-281, Johnson City, Texas, officiated by Rev. Gregory Steele. After the service, Krystal will be laid to rest at the Middleton Ranch Cemetery in Spicewood, Texas, with dinner reception immediately following at the Ranch Bunkhouse.
