Leila Jean Dunham, 94, went to be with her Lord on April 5, 2024 at Granite Mesa Health Center in Marble Falls, Texas.
Leila was born on November 12, 1929, the only child of Frank and Laura Jacobson. During her early years, she lived on the family farm near Smith Center, Kansas with her parents and her loyal collie dog Ring. In 1944, the family moved to Smith Center, where Leila graduated from Smith Center High School in 1948.
Shortly after her high school graduation, Leila and her parents moved to Loveland, Colorado. Leila attended nursing school and worked for Loveland Memorial Hospital and various local physicians. On June 20, 1954, Leila married James W. Dunham. The couple welcomed their only daughter, RaNae in December, 1963. Leila and her husband resided in Loveland until March, 2015, when they moved to Spicewood, Texas to be near their daughter. Leila was a skilled homemaker. She frequently delighted her family with special meals and impromptu celebrations. She was a member of the Loveland chapter of TOPS for many years, and enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends.
Leila's perfect smile always brightened the day of everyone she met. Her quick wit and sharp mind were a delight to everyone who knew her.
Leila was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Laura Jacobson and by her husband, James W. Dunham. She is survived by her daughter, RaNae Dunham Inghram, by many cousins and extended family members, and by her many cherished friends in Loveland and Spicewood.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on June 15, 2024 at Grace Outreach Family Church, 20808 W. Hwy 71, Spicewood, Texas. Everyone is invited to attend to reminisce and to honor Leila's long and happy life.
