Linda Bailey left the confines of this Earth to be with Her Father in Heaven on December 19, 2014. She went in peace, surrounded by her family.
Linda was born in Spokane, Washington and grew up enjoying horseback riding, playing in her school band, and spending time with her numerous friends. She always loved the beauty of the mountains of the Northwest.
After graduating from high school, she entered the Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Spokane. She became a registered nurse in 1960. She met Kent Bailey in February, 1960 in a pizza parlor in Spokane, and they were married on November 26, 1960. Their three daughters, Kathy, Karen and Kristy arrived in quick succession. Following Kent's graduation from engineering school, the family moved to Texas and eventually settled in Houston in 1966. Linda began working as an emergency room nurse at Spring Branch Memorial Hosptial in 1966, and worked there for 34 years until her and Kent's mutual retirement in 2000. She thrived on the excitement and unpredictability of the ER, and provided first class care for the variety of patients who came through the doors.
During retirement, she capitalized on more spare time to enjoy her favorite hobbies of gardening, painting, rubber stamping, and making beautiful handmade cards, and spending precious time with her family and friends.
Kent and Linda moved from Houston to Marble Falls, Texas in 2005, finally getting away from the big city to enjoy small town life once again. In Marble Falls, she became active with various volunteer organizations, offering her considerable talents and time helping others.
During her life, she loved the beauty of nature, creating works of art, and always put her family and others first and foremost. She epitomized love and care, and gave selflessly to others her entire life. She was much loved and sorely missed.
She is survived by Kent Bailey, her husband of 54 years, her three daughters, Kathy Hill, Karen Gelmis, and Kristy Nichols, their husbands Mike, Gregg and Zach, and her four grandchildren, Patrick and Ian Hill and Jenny and Rachel Gelmis.
A funeral mass with reception will be held for Linda on December 22, 2014, at 5:00pm at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Marble Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in Linda's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or the charitable organization of your choice.
