Lorna was born on June 17, 1956, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Walter Beilfuss and Joan Watts Beilfuss. She spent her early childhood in Philadelphia until the age of ten, when her parents moved the family to the countryside and built their home on Hill Road in Sellersville, Pennsylvania. There, Lorna grew up surrounded by nature, community, and the experiences that shaped her compassionate spirit. She later lived in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, for many years before relocating to Texas to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.
She graduated from Pennridge High School with the Class of 1975, where she was an active member of both the marching band and orchestra, playing flute, piccolo, and violin. She also participated in the Girl Scouts of America. Music remained a source of joy and comfort throughout her life. Lorna was confirmed at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, where she began a lifelong spiritual journey that formed the foundation of her faith and guided her devotion to service and caring for others.
Following high school, Lorna pursued her calling to care for others by enrolling in the Licensed Practical Nursing Program at Upper Bucks Vocational School, earning her LPN in 1976. She continued her education at Bucks County Community College, where she furthered her studies and sang in the College Choir, blending her love of music with her commitment to learning. Dedicated to lifelong growth, she later attended Gwynedd Mercy College, earning her Associate of Science in Nursing in 1989. Throughout her nursing career, Lorna was recognized for her dedication and excellence, receiving numerous honors, including listings in Who’s Who of the East (Twenty-Sixth Edition, 1997–1998) and Who’s Who Among Young American Professionals (1988 and 1992–1993 editions).
Lorna was married to Istvan Ambrus in 1973. Together, they endured both profound loss and great joy. Before the birth of their daughter, Lorna and Istvan experienced the heartbreaking loss of twins born sleeping—children who were deeply loved and always held in her heart. Although the marriage later ended in divorce, they shared important years and the blessing of a family. Lorna was a devoted mother to her daughter, Victoria Ambrus, and a proud and loving grandmother to Brennen Scheerer and Kaitlin Scheerer, who brought her immense joy and pride. Lorna also shared her life with many beloved dogs and cats over the years and looked forward to being reunited with them at the Rainbow Bridge.
Before beginning her nursing career, Lorna worked summers at a factory in Sellersville, Pennsylvania. She went on to dedicate her professional life to nursing, a vocation she embraced with deep compassion and unwavering commitment. She cared for countless patients at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, as well as through various home health care agencies. She also served residents in long-term care facilities, including Green Leaf Nursing Home and Doylestown Manor Nursing Home. Known for her gentle spirit, strong work ethic, and genuine kindness, Lorna treated every patient with dignity, offering comfort not only through skilled medical care but through her presence and empathy.
Faith was the cornerstone of Lorna’s life. She was a longtime attendee of Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and later Hill Country Fellowship in Burnet, Texas. She also enjoyed attending community luncheons at St. Fredricks Baptist Church and participating in activities at the Marble Falls Senior Center. Her faith was reflected daily in her compassion, generosity, and steadfast love for family, friends, and those in need.
Lorna is survived by her daughter, Victoria Ambrus; her grandchildren, Brennen Scheerer and Kaitlin Scheerer; her sister, Linda Saylor (Beilfuss); her uncle, David Beilfuss, and aunt, Karen Beilfuss; her stepmother, Jeanette Beilfuss, her step-siblings, Rebecca Brosky and William Brosky (and his wife, Anita); as well as many cherished relatives and dear friends whose lives she touched deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Beilfuss and Joan Watts Beilfuss; her grandparents; her beloved twins born sleeping; and several family members and dear friends.
Lorna will be remembered for her compassionate heart, deep faith, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched as a nurse, the family she cherished, and the faith she lived each day.
Services will be held at Hill Country Fellowship in Burnet, Texas, with details to be announced. Her celebration of life and interment will be held at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler, Pennsylvania, on June 17, 2026, her 70th birthday, at 11 am. A Nurse Honor Guard will perform a ceremony.
