

Mary Leota (Hallie) Halliburton passed away on January 16, 2011. She was born on May 28, 1921 in Barry, Illinois to Grace and Otis Boyd. Leota attended Gem City Business College in Quincy, Illinois and married Virgil Musick Halliburton in 1950, moved to Texas and lived in Corpus Christi for 2 years, then moved to Houston, where she lived for more than 50 years. She was widowed in 1969. She was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church, then Braeburn Presbyterian Church in Houston. She moved to Marble Falls in 2006 and became a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. Leota retired from JC Penney, where she worked as a customer service representative. She was interested in gardening, baking, activities with her family, pets, and church, and was a proud volunteer at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in Houston for many years. Leota was opinionated yet sweet, stubborn yet cheerful, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include daughter Terri Whaley and husband Robert of Bertram, daughter Gay Hasle and husband Wayne of Houston, granddaughter Erika and husband Jon Raffensperger of Chicago, Illinois, granddaughter Jennifer Whaley of Houston, niece Pat Delaney of New Braunfels, nephew Eddie Cook of Scottsdale, Arizona, brother-in-law Harold Halliburton of Bulverde, Texas, and sister-in-law Lucille Quinn of Canton, Missouri. She is also survived by her beloved cat, April. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
A memorial service for Leota will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 21, 2011 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Marble Falls. After the service she will be cremated and interred next to her husband at Forest Park Westheimer in Houston. For those desiring, condolences may be offered at www.clementswilcox.com.
