Odie was born on December 10, 1931 in Nixon, TX to Odie Sr and Verdie Forester. He was the oldest of 4 children and left home at an early age to join the military. He did a stint with the Texas National Guard, two with the United States Army, and one with the United States Air Force. He was Honorably Discharged from all branches. During this time he earned two degrees from the University of Illinois; one in Meteorology and one in Business Administration.
After completing his time in the military he returned home to San Antonio, TX. Shortly thereafter, his cousin introduced him to a little firecracker named Sally Gatewood. They met at the Flores Country Store in Helotes, TX at a dance. They married in September of that year and set off on a grand adventure that resulted in 7 daughters, 22 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
When not riding herd on this loud, noisy, rather obnoxious family of his, Odie enjoyed fishing, reading, and watching his Cowboys win Super Bowls (or screaming at the TV when they were losing!!)
Odie is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sally. He is predeceased by his parents and his oldest daughter, Sally Dossey as well as his son-in-law, Daniel Dossey Sr.
Also surviving Odie are his daughters: Cindy Sullivan & husband Brian of Natalia, TX, Shannon Huffman & husband Ricky of Marble Falls, Hatti Hartman & husband Jeffery of Austin,Tirish Mynk & husband Allen of Spicewood, Odia Russette &husband Ron of Texarkana and Keren Schuessler & husband Matthew of Spicewood.

Also survived by many many nieces, nephews, and friends of his daughters who called him Dad, friends, and his dogs (always the dogs!)
Odie left this world more loved than most people will ever be fortunate enough to feel in their lifetimes. He traveled the world, read voraciously, enjoyed a good football game, poker game, and argument. He loved Schlitz beer and IW Harper Kentucky Whiskey. He loved dancing with Momma and sitting under the stars with her. She was the love of his life and she blessed him with a houseful of women who adored him who in turn gave him a passel of grandkids who worshipped their Papa! We were the blessed ones to be part of his family.
Visitation will be on Sunday, August 19 from 4:00-6:00pm at Clements Wilcox in Marble Falls, TX. Funeral services will be on Monday, August 20 at 10:00am at Bee Creek Methodist Church in Spicewood. Interment to follow at Haynie Flats Cemetery.
Daddy – Rest with Sally now. You are loved and missed but left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and troublemaking. We’ll do our best to keep that going for you.
