

Bob Becker, 82, of Spicewood, Texas, died February 22, 2013 in Burnet, Texas. Born October 8, 1930 in Chester, Texas, he was the son of Oswald & Ruth (LaForge) Becker. He had been a resident of the Hill Country since 1993.
As a young man of 18 he married Peggy Lewis and celebrated 64 years of marriage in May 2012. He worked with his father and uncles at the furniture factory in Marble Falls making various pieces of furniture. He also helped build Max Starke and Wirtz Dams and later the IBC Bank in Marble Falls.
In 1952 he moved his family to Corpus Christi and lived there for 20 years while pursuing a career in construction. He spent his leisure time fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and the Intercoastal Waterway.
In 1973 he moved to Laredo and spent 19 years there continuing in construction building of banks, schools, homes and other various structures. While living here, his fishing slowed down and his love of hunting took over and his trophy deer prove this. Bob taught his sons the love of fishing and hunting and his daughter the love of fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joe Becker and sister Wilma Tatum.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Becker; brother Kelly Becker & wife Jackie of Montrose, CO; sons: Dan Becker & wife Sheila of Corpus Christi, Jerry Becker & wife Paulette of Hitchcock and Steve Becker & wife Veronica of Laredo; daughter, Barbara Newcomb of San Antonio; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Memorial service will be Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Clements-Wilcox Chapel.
