Ruby was born in Blanket, Texas on March 2, 1935, to James Arthur Williams, Sr. and Ruby Estelle Reagan at the home of her grandmother.
Ruby lived in Brownwood, Texas until 1949 when she and her family moved to Marble Falls.
During her high school years she was a cheerleader, a member of the first girl basketball team, played softball, volleyball, ran track and was class favorite her Senior year. She loved her high school years and worked at local restaurants and always kept busy.
The day after she graduated in 1953, she worked at Barnes Lumber Company as a bookkeeper and then went to work for Dr. W. I. Shepperd, who trained her to be a nurse. So many friends will remember her giving them injections and caring for them when she worked for Dr. Shepperd. She worked for him over 30 years.
She married Alfred Frasier on July 27, 1956. They had two children Amiel Jay and Catherine Lynnette, whom she loved dearly.
In 1980 she and her sister Dorothy Keetch bought and ran Ladies Specialty Shop for two years. This was definitely a change from nursing.
She then went into banking, where she worked for 15 years. She really enjoyed banking and greeting customers.
While working at the Bank she met Herb Ross and were married July 23, 1987 on a cruise to Alaska. They were married for 27 years and lived life to the fullest. They enjoyed bowling, golfing, chili cooking, socializing, traveling and bird watching (if you ever need to know the name of bird all you had to do was ask).
For over 50 years Ruby was a member of Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) and a loyal chili cook. She was instrumental in continuing Howdy-Roo after Clyde and Mary Griffin left. She was Great Pepper 6 times during the years of 1984 to 2003 and held every office in the Highland Lakes POD where she met and made many friends. Everyone that knew her knows Chili cooking was her world. She was also inducted into the Houston POD Hall of Fame (1998) and received the Pioneer Award from CASI (2018). She loved her “Chili World” as she referred to it. She met many people and made many, many friends who she dearly loved.
She was given the Yellow Rose of Texas in Terlingua in October 2006. This meant the world to her and very well deserved.
She is survived by her children, Amiel Jay Frasier (Nancy), Catherine Frasier Bell, and the father to her children Alfred Frasier, her brother Kenneth Williams (Pat), grandchildren Justin Frasier, John Bell (Melissa), Malesa Young, great grand children Kaitlyn Tindall (Dillon), Ashlyn Bell (Tyler), Lilah Young and Ruby Young.
