Tammy was born in 1969, and spent her childhood in Bridge City, Texas. Her educational journey took her to Norway as an exchange student where she chose a country that had a different language to challenge and expand her knowledge. She began learning the Norwegian language from the mother of her host family, as they took walks through the forest. Tammy had learned and spoke the native Norwegian language so well that local Norwegian’s often thought English was Tammy’s second language. While in Norway, Tammy also took a solo train trip spending time in Sweden, before traveling to Italy where she visited her elementary school pen pal in a small town near Venice. During her visit, Tammy traveled to Venice and St. Mark's Basilica where she experienced the pigeons in the square.
After attending college at Lamar University near her hometown, Tammy moved to San Antonio to continue her education at the University of Texas at San Antonio where she made the Dean’s list and maintained 4.0 grade point average.
Tammy met Paul Moreno while they were both working at Hi/Lo Auto Parts and attending UTSA. Tammy and Paul were married shortly after his graduation. After spending a year in San Antonio they lived in Corpus Christi, Texas for a few years. They then moved to central Texas. Two years later they built their home in Lago Vista.
Tammy loved animals, gardening, reading, was an extraordinary cook and amazing home decorator.
Tammy was a prolific reader and loved going to used bookstores, often buying books by the dozens. She beautifully decorated and painted their home using her skill in coordinating colors with her garage sale and thrift market finds. She loved collecting cookbooks and venturing to the various ethnic food markets in Austin and Cedar Park, exploring new ingredients. Tammy was always trying new dishes, tweaking the recipes to her liking and spoiling her husband daily with delicious meals from around the world. Tammy also enjoyed music from classical to rock and played the piano and the Native American flute.
Tammy was preceded in death by her sister Angelia Michelle Hock, brother Michael Anthony Hock, mother Carol Kern, and father John Ford. She is survived by her husband Paul of 30 years and brother Stephen Hock.
