

W.C. was born in Marshall, Texas on July 21, 1918 to Joshua Clark & Ora Vance Matlock. He was the oldest of three children.
In 1941, he married Edna Burleson. They had two sons, Wayne and Larry. W.C. and Doris were married for 16 years. He married Loraine Agee in 1987. They were married for 9 years, until her death in 1996.
W.C. was a graduate of Brownwood High School. He graduated from Howard Payne College with degrees in Business and Science. He also received a degree from A&M in Chemistry. In 1943, he went into the Army. He served in England and Germany until 1945. He returned to school, after the service, earning a PhD in Marine Biology at the University of Washington. Upon his retirement in 1984, from his Civil Service career as State Construction Inspector, W.C. opened Dub's Lock Shop in Kingsland, Texas. He had been a locksmith since age 18, but waited until late in life to take it seriously. W.C. invented the "Pick Trick" which was used to aid in the opening of Chrysler ignitions. During this time, he also tested the water for the Kingsland Water Supply.
W.C. was a member of Kingsland Community Church. He served on the Kingsland Water Board and had been on the Board of Directors for KMUD from 1998 to 2002. He was a member of the Kingsland Lions Club and Cleburne Masonic Lodge # 315.
He is survived by his son, Wayne (Ann), grandchildren, Terry Barrick (Jeff), Amy Matlock, Lori Slough (Chad) and nine great grandchildren. He was called "Big Pa Pooh" by the youngest ones.
W.C. was preceded in death by his son, Larry and his grandson, Curtis.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Kingsland Community Church.
