

Bernardo was born in Camaguey, Cuba to Bernardo and Dora Bezos in 1936. He attended the University of Havana, and came to the United States in 1960. He resided in Queens, NY, Kendall Park, NJ, and worked 33 years for the Phillip Van Husen Corporation of NY as Vice President of Financial Reporting before retiring to Marco Island, FL in 1998. Bernardo loved Marco and volunteered wherever help was needed. He was President and Treasurer of MICA, President and on the Board of Directors of the Marco Police Foundation, Neighborhood Watch, Beach Stewart, Beach Cleanup, Beach Advisory, Marco Island Foundation of the Arts, and the Cuban-American Club of Marco. He was an avid tennis player at the YMCA.
Bernardo was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Dora, Roselia and Berta. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Eleanor (Mochnoc) and daughters Leonore of Marco Island; Gaudy Bezos (Neil) O'Connor of Newport News, VA; Dora (Bill) Russo of Pembroke Pines, FL; and their grandchildren Natasha Cortez, Ryan Russo, Alex Sean, and Neil O'Connor; his sisters Diana, Noela, and Leticia; and his nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
A funeral mass will be held at San Marco Catholic Church, located at 851 San Marco Rd., Marco Island on Saturday, January 27th at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marco Police Foundation at 1083 Collier Blvd., #123, Marco Island, FL 34145.
