Janesville, WI to Arthur and Anna Rose Holman. His parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife Janet, daughters Laura (Steve) Furlong and Susan (Chris) Griswold, grandson
Sam (Cristina) Furlong and two sisters, Judy Altman and Joyce (Jerry) Kumba. He was preceded in death
by two siblings, his twin, Don and brother Jerry.
He grew up on the family dairy farm in Orfordville, WI. He left the farm in 1960 to attend UW-Platteville,
graduating in 1964. David and Janet were married on a very cold day on January 19, 1963. They settled
in Milton, WI where they spent most of their married life. David worked for the Rock County health
department for most of his career. He earned his Master degree in Water Resource Management while
working for the county. He retired in 1998 as the Environmental Health Director. After retirement, they
moved to Bloomington, IL. They finally left the cold behind when they moved to Marco Island, FL in
2019.
David enjoyed spending time with his family. He and Janet traveled the United States and Europe with
their favorite destination being Switzerland. Throughout his life, there were many fishing excursions with
his father, children and grandson. He was an avid Master Gardener, even being awarded the City of
Bloomington beautification award for his garden at their house. He loved the outdoors, whether
hunting, fishing, walking in the woods with his grandson or just sitting on the porch reading the paper. If
you asked him later in life what his plans for the future were, he would say “life is good, I get to spend
my time here with Janet.” Expressions of condolences and memorials can be sent to Janet Holman, 448
W 19th St, Mailbox # 1056, Houston, Texas 77008. The family is requesting that memorials be made to
The Calusa Garden Club Of Marco Island. A memorial service will be scheduled later this year.
